Health Screenings and Quarantine Information

In order to safely serve our community and students while keeping our staff healthy and safe, we must all follow WCPSS health guidelines and procedures.

Stay Home If You Are Sick

Students who are sick or not feeling well should stay home. If a student begins to not feel well, shows signs of illness, or becomes sick during the day, they must immediately tell an employee and follow the process to go home.

Students are required to stay home if:

  • They have tested positive for or are showing COVID-19 symptoms, until they meet criteria for return.

  • They have recently had close contact with a person with COVID-19, until they meet criteria for return.

  • They have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher.

  • Another student or WCPSS employee living in the same house is experiencing a symptom of illness.

Please see wcpss.net/WhenToReturn for requirements in order to return to school.

Student Accountability and Required Health Protocols

Students who are returning to campus must complete the Student Accountability and Health Protocols form. This document tells families that students must strictly follow our required health protocols when on our campuses. It also includes possible consequences for non-compliance. If you have already submitted the acknowledgement form to your school, you do not need to do it again.

Health Screenings

Daily health screenings can help reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

All students and essential visitors should take their temperature every day at home before coming to school. If your temperature is 100.4 degrees or higher, you must stay home.

When arriving at school, all students and essential visitors will undergo an in-person health screening, including a symptom screening and an on-site temperature check. An adult should wait until their child has passed the health screening process before leaving the child at school. Bus riders will undergo a health screening at school, like all other students.

If a student or essential visitor plans to check out of school for any reason and check back in later in the day, they should get a dated health screening pass before leaving the building so they will not have to go through the health screening process again when they return. Anyone with a dated health screening pass will not need additional screening before reentering a WCPSS facility on that day.
