Beware of College Test Prep Scams Please be aware of scams targeting parents of WCPSS high school students preparing for college. The scammers claim to be from The College Board, the organization responsible for the PSAT and SAT tests. They call or email, asking for credit card numbers so they can send PSAT prep materials that the student has supposedly requested. Often the scammers have the student’s name, address, and phone number, making them seem more believable. Remember that The College Board will never ask you to give credit card, bank account or password information over the phone or via email. Magnet and year-round application deadline extended to Feb. 6 The deadline to apply to a magnet or year-round school for the 2022-23 school year has been extended to midnight on Sunday, Feb. 6. Virtual information sessions will be offered this evening at 5 p.m. or on Wednesday Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. Individual schools also are offering tours. All schools closed at 6 PM today. Schools and extracurricular activities also closed Friday and Saturday. Based on updated weather forecasts, all participants in WCPSS activities must be off campus by 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 20. This includes all child-care programs. All classes and extracurricular activities are canceled Friday, Jan. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 22. No make-up day will be required for Friday’s classes. Schools will use banked instructional time.
